inspired chats

This is the start of a series of Inspired Chats, interviews of people who have inspired me. To begin is Anne Davis my year five teacher. She made a big impact in my life and since having her as a teacher I have been more confident. She made me believe in myself and realise that I don't have to be like other people. She is an amazing and inspirational woman who I am lucky to still have in my life. I decided to ask her a few questions about her life and who has inspired her.

How did you get into your career?

After quitting a job in a previous career and travelling overseas for a few years, I decided I wanted a fulfilling career and went back to uni to do a teaching degree.

When you were little what did you want to be?

Mum says I always wanted to be a teacher. Even when I three years old I bossed my brother and sisters around in a classroom I made out of big pillows.

What moment in your life are you most proud off?

The birth of my son was a pretty proud moment. Sometimes surviving tough days without killing anyone, also makes me proud of my patience and strength.

What are you grateful for?

For being loved. And for the health and safety of my loved ones. And having a great education which has taken me to so many places. It also opened up many amazing opportunities and the meeting of great friends.

Who has made the most impact on your life?

I think my mum has had the greatest impact on me from the start right up to where I am now. The encouragement of my history and english teachers at high school really inspired me and motivated me to get the most out of schooling as well. I think of them often. And my mum all the time?

Who is your favourite historical figure?

I studied both modern and ancient history and I've made a point to travel to many of the places I've studied. Hatshepsut possibly as she was one of the few women we studied at the time. She was a kick arse Pharaoh. Seeing her funeral temple in Egypt was pretty awesome.

What is your favourite book and movie?

My favourite book is The Many Mice of Mr Brice. It's an interactive Dr Seuss book and it was the book I most treasured as a kid. I loved it to death. Literally. A few years ago mum paid a lot of money for one in amazing condition!!

My fave movie. That's hard as I have a short attention span. The Man Who Knew Too Little. Bill Murray is in it. I love him. I've been watching The Cat In The Hat with my son lately and I'm loving that.

What makes you laugh the most?

The hilariously random things kids in my class say. All the time. I love their lack of inhibition. For example "I saw the baby worm come out of the mummy worm's private parts".
My son is also fairly entertaining.

Such fun!
